Seamless Infrastructure Upgrade: Modernising Potable Water System Without Disruption

Upgrading A Critical Water Delivery And Storage Facility To A Smart, BMS-Controlled Solution—Ensuring 24/7 Service Continuity For Airline And Retail Operations

The Challenge

The existing mechanical potable water delivery and storage system had failed, posing a significant risk to the continuous supply of water to critical areas such as airline operations and on-site retail units. The system needed a full upgrade, but works had to be carried out without disrupting ongoing services. The project also involved confined space works and required careful planning to maintain system resilience and avoid delays to both airside and landside operations.

The Solution

We implemented a phased upgrade to a fully electronic Building Management System (BMS), enabling advanced control, monitoring, and fault detection utilising Keraflo Tanktronic with 24hour UPS backup. The integration was carried out alongside the live system, using temporary bypasses and staged commissioning to ensure continuity of service. Special safety and access procedures were followed for confined space work, and resilience was built into the new design to ensure long-term reliability and maintainability.

The Outcome

The project was successfully delivered with zero disruption to airline or retail operations. The new BMS-controlled water system provides real-time performance data, enhanced fault detection, and remote operational capability. This not only improved system efficiency and reliability but also positioned the facility for future growth and compliance with modern infrastructure standards.
